Links point to Thunderstore, because it doesn't require you to login. All mods should work in multiplayer, have been recently updated, and have at least some likes.
Install the mods:
- Download BepInEx and place the BepInEx folder under
steamapps\common\Valheim
- Download other mods and drop all the files in their plugin folder (usually .dll files) to
steamapps\common\Valheim\BepInEx\plugins
Alternatively use r2modman.
Some of the mods require strictly the same version for server and all players. Auto update on or off?
Utilities
- BepInEx. Unity plugin loader.
- Jötunn. Requirement for most of the mods.
- JsonDotNET. Requirement for Epic Loot and More World Locations.
- YamlDotNet. Requirement for Star Level System and More World Locations.
- Valheim Community Patch. Performance and stability fixes. Last time the base got quite laggy in the late game. MidnightMods have other performance mods too.
Practical
- Inventory Slots. Preview chests, delete stacks, and easily compare items. Dedicated inventory slots for armor and extra quick slots for consumables. And more!
THIS SHIT IS SOMEWHAT BUGGY
Adventure
- Epic Loot. It adds quite a bit of new stuff to manage, but it looks fun and at least there's a use for trophies now.
- More World Locations. New points of interest and traders.
- Note the non-standard installation: create a folder
\BepInEx\plugins\warpalicious-More_World_Locations_AIO and drop the .dll, assetBundleManifest_full, and bundles folder in there.
- Humanoid Randomizer. Some of the basic enemies get new variants.
- Star Level System. Many more creatures get difficulty stars. The boost from one star is much smaller than in vanilla, but the cap is much higher and some of the stars have extra effects.
- Set from MidnightsFX.StarLevelSystem.cfg (these are not synced by server?):
EnemyHealthMultiplier = 0.6 and MultiplayerEnemyHealthModifier = 0.1 so the enemies don't get too tanky.
EnableBossModifiers = false because some of the bosses are already challenging enough.
- These settings are set from server and synced to players:
- RaidSettings: set
RaidCreatureDensity: 2. This is easier than default, but still harder than vanilla?
- LevelSettings: set
EnableConditionalCreatureLevelupChance: true. We don't want the early biomes to become too trivial as we gear up.
When creating the world use world modifier: resource rate x 2.
The metals might still be a chore, but things like meat are plentiful, because star levels also increase drops.
Do not create the world before More World Locations is installed!
